Robert C. Kershner

Robert C. Kershner, 84 of Shoemakersville died August 16 in the Reading Hospital & Medical Center. He was the husband of Karen L. (Schulz) Kershner. Robert was born in Mohrsville and was the son of the late George R. and Elsie V. (Hoffman) Kershner. He was a 1951 graduate of Perry High School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was employed as a finisher at Wolfe Dye & Bleach, Shoemakersville for 44 years retiring in 1999. Bob was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, Shoemakersville where he sang in the choir for 50 years. He served as a Lay-Leader, a Pastor Parish Relations Committee Member and church historian. Robert was involved in the Shoemakersville Children's Fair and this past summer was named Grand Marshall of the 2017 parade. He was a life member of the Perry P.T.A. and participated in the Perry P.T.A. Variety Shows for many years. In addition to his wife, Robert is survived by his children; Donna J. wife of Ted Rollman, Mohnton, Colleen M. wife of Chris Bost, Hamburg, Vanessa L. wife of Juan Garcia, Hummelstown, Michael R. companion of Audreylin Ashley, Shillington, Beth A. Moore, Tilden Township and Charles N. husband of Nicole Watmuff, Jr. Dauberville, thirteen grandchildren and six great- grandchildren. Robert is also survived by a nephew, Kenneth K. Kershner and was predeceased by a ½ brother, Gaylord N. Kershner. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the Salem United Methodist Church, 605 Main Street, Shoemakersville, PA. 19555. A viewing will be held on Friday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Burkey & Driscoll Funeral Home, Inc., 40 S. 4 th Street, Hamburg, PA. and at the church on Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place in Ebenezer Cemetery, Shoemakersville.
