Robert John Sheldon

Robert John Sheldon, 83, of Muhlenberg Township, passed away January 22, 2025, at Good Shepherd Specialty Hospital.

He was predeceased by Patricia Marie (Sullivan) Sheldon, his loving wife of 57 years.

Born in Schenectady, New York, he was the son of the late John C. and Barbara E. (Yesilonis) Sheldon.

Bob earned his Master's Degree in nuclear engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute before proudly serving in the US Navy. He was later employed by Gilberts Associates and Sargent & Lundy.

He was a faithful member of Holy Guardian Angels Church, where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Bob was an avid photographer and spent many hours photographing flowers, chasing birds and documenting all of the covered bridges in the US. He traveled widely and enjoyed sharing photos from his adventures around the world.

Left to treasure his memory are his four children: Michael Sheldon (Carol) of Gilbert, AZ; Jane Maguire (Stephen) of Sinking Spring, PA; Kenneth Sheldon (Saoirse) of York, PA; Catherine Bonen (Matthew) of New Market, MD; He will be dearly missed by his seven grandchildren: Timothy, Alexander, Skyla, Joseph, Abigail, Benjamin, and Allison; and two great-grandchildren, Bella and Rafael; and his sister Joan (Sheldon) Strenkowski.

Bob was predeceased by his brother Richard Sheldon.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, January 30, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Holy Guardian Angels Roman Catholic Church, 3121 Kutztown Rd, Reading, PA 19605. A viewing will be held Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. –7:00 p.m. at Kuhn Funeral Home & Crematory, 5153 Kutztown Rd., Temple, PA 19560 and Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the church. A private burial will be held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Miller-Keystone Blood Center and Opportunity House.
