Robert H. Grey, Sr., 77, passed away December 4, 2016, in his Exeter Twp. residence.
He was the loving husband of BettyJane "BJ" (DeWald) Grey.
Born in Egg Harbor, NJ, he was a son of the late Miriam M. Richards.
He was a graduate of Alvernia University earning a BA in Accounting in 1993.
Robert was an operator of DeWald Luncheonete, Stony Creek; a welder for Parrish Division Dana Corp for 30 years; and served as an accountant for Bruce Bear CPA, Morgantown, Fromm Electric, Reading, and C.S. Seidel, Inc, Reading. He was the controller for George E. Snyder Contractors, and was the owner/operator for B&B Enterprise, LLC for over 40 years.
Robert was a Union Twp. Supervisor from 1970 to 1976; a committeeman for Union and Exeter Townships, recording secretary for Berks Co. and the Democratic Standing Committee, a member of the Reiffton Fire Co. for over 30 years; and was a trustee/committeeman and editor of the Union Paper Local 3733 (Steelworkers Union Paper). He was a trustee of the Kulptown Fire Co. and was a Cub Scout leader in Kulptown. Robert was the past president of the Democratic Club of Union Twp., served as the president of ELMS (Exeter Lower, Alsace Twp., Mt Penn, St. Lawrence) and past president of the Birdsboro CB Club.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Ronald E. Grey (Sheila), Reading; Robert H. Grey, Jr. (Nancy), Exeter Twp.; and Rochelle Grey (Glenn Bartle), Exeter Twp. There are four siblings: Joan Bower, Kay Reinhold, Lois Richard and Steve LuPort. Six grandchildren: Ann Marie Running, Joseph A. Grey, Jacob A. Grey, Robert H.Grey, III, Richard E. Grey, II and Shane Bartle; and four great-grandchildren: Henry Hughes, Devin Hughes, Jacob A. Grey, Jr., and Skyler M. Grey also survive him.
He was predeceased by his son, Richard E. Grey in 1968, and his brother Gene Richard.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading. Friends may call Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m. and Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 498 Bellevue Ave., Reading, PA 19605.
