Robert A. Goda

Robert Allen "Bobby" Goda, 64, was shot and killed in his Laureldale residence on August 21, 2012.

Born June 29, 1948 in Reading Hospital, he was a son of the late, Merrill C. Goda, Sr., and Violet P. (Sands) Goda.

He was employed a number of years as an emergency dispatcher.

Bobby was a life long fireman and fire policeman, starting his career as a junior firefighter in the city when he was 16 years old. He later volunteered at both Central (Laureldale) Fire Company and Goodwill (Muhlenberg Twp) Fire Company.

He was also a school crossing guard on Kutztown Road.

Bobby is survived by his dog and best friend, "Brodie".

Other survivors include three siblings: Barbara A., wife of Kenneth Zabodyn of Brecknock Township; Merlene L., wife of Jack Strunk of South Heidelberg Township and Merrill C. Goda, Jr, husband of Diane M. (Clark) Goda of Reading.

Services will be held Monday at 9:30 am in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Rd., Laureldale, PA 19605. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Exeter Township.

Viewings will be held Sunday from 5:00 - 8:00 pm and Monday, 8:30 - 9:30 am in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the funeral home to help with final expenses.
