Robert K. Gehr

Robert Kenneth Gehr, 73, of Reading, died May 16, 2007 at 9:15 pm in ManorCare Health Services, Muhlenberg Township, where he had been a patient since April 11, 2007.

He was the widower of Dorothy Ann (Witter) Gehr, who died August 13, 2002.

Born March 24, 1934 in West Reading, he was a son of Arlene Joyce (Gregro) Stehman of Muhlenberg Township and the late George David Gehr.

He was a Navy Veteran of the Korean War.

Robert was employed 27 years as a welder with Zacharias Machine Shop, Bern Township and later in the same capacity for three years with Reading Body Works, Reading, retiring in 1996.

He is also survived by a daughter, Karen L. (Gehr) wife of Earl A. Weidman of Reading and two sons, Robert K. Gehr, Jr., of Maidencreek Township and John H. husband of Claire E. (Kriebel) Gehr of Muhlenberg Township.

Other survivors include two brothers, David R. Gehr of Muhlenberg Township and Michael L. Stehman of West Lawn.

There are also seven grandchildren, Raymie, Nicole, Bobby III, Kevin, Dana, Gillian and Jessica.

He was predeceased by a step-father, Walter Henry Stehman.

Services will be tonight at 8:00 pm in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale. A viewing will be held from 6:30 pm until time of services. Burial will be private in Gethsemane Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Margaret's R.C. Church, 925 Centre Avenue, Reading, PA 19601.
