Robert G. Gardecki, 77, of Morgantown, passed away on Friday, June 12, 2026, in the care of Wellspan Ephrata Community Hospital, after losing a hard fought battle with cancer lasting almost a year.
Born to Dolores Y. (Vinitsky) of Reading and the late Theodore J. Gardecki, Bob graduated from Reading High School in 1966 and went on to study at Penn State University. He was certified as a Master Electrician.
He founded Telco, Inc., a company specializing in traffic signal installation and maintenance services, which he operated until selling the business in 2005. In his retirement, Bob continued to do independent electrical work. An avid outdoorsman and master craftsman, he thoroughly enjoyed hunting, snowmobiling, motorcycle and ATV riding, and spending time in the mountains of Potter County. He was also a passionate train enthusiast. He could fix anything and everything, and if a part did not exist, he would make one. Most recently, he and his friend Norm built a massive detached garage from the ground up. Bob was a member of the Moose, American Legion, and VFW.
He is survived by his sons, Todd R. Gardecki, husband of Shannon, of Benton, AR, and Eric A. Gardecki of Reading; his mother, Dolores Gardecki; his siblings: Steven Gardecki, husband of Cindy; Cheryl Stefanick, widow of Thomas; and Richard Gardecki; his grandchildren, Michaela Rhodes, wife of Cody, and Sarah Faith; and his great-granddaughter, Ella Rhodes. He is also survived by his nieces, nephews, their families, and close friends, Norm and Angie McElwain.
In addition to his father, Robert was predeceased by his brother, John Gardecki.
Friends and family are welcome to gather for an informal celebration of life on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, from 5:00 pm until 6:30 pm at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading, PA 19611. Condolences may be expressed at kuhnfuneralhomes.com.
