Robert G. Bechtel

Robert G. Bechtel, 71, of 3318 Raymond Street, Laureldale died of natural causes Sunday June 16th at 10:56 a.m. in Mifflin Center, Cumru Township where he had been a patient since June 3rd.

He was the husband of Marion P. (Polansky) Bechtel who were married October 3, 1953.

Born in Hazleton, Luzerne County, Pa, he was a son of the late Augustine L. and Jeannette (Kneis) Bechtel.

Bechtel was a 1948 graduate of Lansford High School, Carbon County.

He was a United States Navy Veteran of the Korean War.

Bechtel worked in the maintenance department for over 30 years for AT&T until his retirement.

He was a member of the Masons Lodge #227; and a life member of the Central Fire Company, Laureldale.

Bechtel is survived by a son; Robert G. Jr., husband of Carolyn Bechtel of Exeter Township, and a daughter; Jane A. (Bechtel) wife of Floyd N. Turner II of Riverview Park.

Other survivors include two brothers; Augustine husband of June Bechtel of Mohnton and William husband of Lillian Bechtel of Reading.

Bechtel is also survived by three granddaughters; Jennifer Bechtel of Staten Island, NY, Deanna Bechtel of Temple and Kate Turner of Riverview Park.

Services will be held Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., Laureldale. Viewing from Noon until time of service. Burial will be in Laureldale Cemetery, Tuckerton.
