Robert Frederick Giles, 84, formerly of Spring Township, died November 30, 2010 at 12:38 am in Berks Heim.
He was married June 29, 1946 to Jean Doris (Moyer) Giles, who died January 24, 2009.
Born in Fleetwood, PA on June 21, 1926, he was a son of the late Joseph W. Giles and Edna G. (Biehl) Dautrich.
He was a graduate of Reading High School.
Robert was a Navy Veteran of WWII and the Korean Conflict.
He was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, Reading.
Robert was employed 41 years with MetEd, last working as a maintenance supervisor before retiring in 1988.
He was a former president of the Jr. Chamber of Commerce.
Robert was a co-founder of Pennsylvania Jr. Miss Pageant and a founder of the Reading Chapter of Turtles.
He was a member and 32nd degree mason with Lodge #740, Reading.
Robert is survived by three daughters: Karen J., wife of Raymond T. Palm of Dauberville; Eileen M., wife of Michael J. Dubowski of Salcha, AK and Cynthia R., wife of Robert C. Willard of Spring Township.
Other survivors include five grandchildren: Joshua Dubowski; Sarah Dubowski; Jillian (Palm), wife of Sean Kepley; Matthew Smith and Mallory Smith.
He was predeceased by a brother, Richard Mersinger, who died March 15, 1997.
Services will be held Friday at noon in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading, with Rev. Mary E. Wolfe and Rev. Keith K. Rohrbach officiating. A viewing will be held one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Bern Cemetery.
