Robert W. Epler, 87, a resident of Phoebe Berks, Wernersville formerly of Mohnton, died April 22 at 10:58 p.m. in Reading Hospital, where he had a patient for 10 days.

His wife Gladys L. (Lutz) Epler died September 17, 1999; they were married for 51 years.

Born in Berkshire Heights, he was the son of the late Charles S. and Jennie V. (Willson) Epler.

He was employed as a clerk and carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, Mohnton for 27 years retiring on December 1, 1973.

Epler was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in both World War II and the Korean War. He served as a Master Sergeant and was a Pearl Harbor survivor.

He was a lifetime member of Calvary United Methodist Church, Mohnton, where he served as sexton for many years.

Epler was the past treasurer for the Mohnsville Cemetery, Mohnton for over 30 years.

He was a graduate of the former Mohnton High School.

Survivors include two sons, Randy D., Birdsboro husband of Mary-Jo and Keith R., Boyertown, husband of Judy. There are also 3 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren and one great grandchild.

He was predeceased by one daughter, Jeanne Louise Epler.

Memorial Services will be Wednesday, April 26 at 7 p.m. in Calvary United Methodist Church, Mohnton. Burial in Mohnsville Cemetery will be private. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Berks Visiting Nurses Assosciation Hospice, 1170 Berkshire Blvd. Wyomissing,PA 19610.
