Robert E. Eiler

Robert Edward Eiler, 91, of Muhlenberg Township, died November 9, 2010 in the Reading Hospital and Medical Center.

He was married November 18, 1945 to Myrtle Ruth (Gruber) Eiler, who died September 28, 2004.

Born in Reading on September 2, 1919, he was a son of the late Edward and Stella (Hoffman) Eiler.

He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, Laureldale.

Robert was an Army Veteran of WWII.

He was employed from 1947 to 1987 as a driver with BARTA, Reading and later as a dispatcher for 10 years with Muhlenberg Ambulance before retiring in 1997.

Robert was the current president of the board for BARTA Berks Community Federal Credit Union; serving in that postion since 1997.

He is survived by a daughter, Sharon E. (Eiler), widow of John D. Glase Jr., of Kenhorst.

Other survivors include a granddaughter, Stephanie G. (Glase), wife of William A. Griffith of Reading and a great granddaughter, Ashley M. Griffith.

Services will be Saturday at 10:00 am in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale, with the Rev. Thomas F. Irwin, Jr., officiating. A viewing will be held Friday evening from 6:30 - 8:00 pm in the funeral home. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Exeter Township.
