Robert H. Dietrich

Robert Harvey Dietrich   Robert Harvey Dietrich (89) of West Hamburg went into eternity on the evening of March 30, 2017 after a day surrounded by family and loved ones.   Robert was born on June 27, 1927, Greenwich Township, Berks County PA and was raised on a nearby farm. Robert attended Kutztown High School and served in the United States Army as a telegraph operator in the Carolinas and Hawaii, from December 1954 through September 1956. He married his wife of over 57 years, Marie (Phillips) Dietrich, in 1959.   Robert Dietrich worked at the Dana Steel Corporation as a parts inspector for over 25 years, until his retirement in 1988. He owned a Jacobson lawn mower sales and general repair shop in the 1970s near his home in West Hamburg. Robert enjoyed farming and raising fruit trees, country and big band music, hoedowns and his membership in Belleman's Lutheran Church in Mohrsville, PA. He was a long-time member of the Virginville Grange.   Robert is survived by his wife, Marie (Phillips) Dietrich, daughters, Sharon and Michele Dietrich, son, Carl Dietrich, son-in-law Scott Dietrich, and granddaughter Katie Dietrich. The family would like to personally thank all who have assisted in Robert's care during the past several years, particularly Marilyn, Brenda, Denise, Kelly, Lydia, Susan, and Deb, and all the loving family and friends who showed their support and kindness.   Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 5 th at 11:00 a.m. at Salem Belleman's Church, 3540 Bellemans Church Road, Mohrsville, PA. A viewing will be held Tuesday evening from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m. at the Burkey & Driscoll Funeral Home, Inc., 40 S. 4 th Street, Hamburg, PA. and again on Wednesday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the church.
