Robert Clayton Ford, 88, died June 8, 2013 in his Spring Township residence.
He was the husband of Alyce Jane (Wagner) Ford whom he married October 7, 1983.
Born February 26, 1925 in Pittsfield, Mass., he was son of the late Clayton and Ruth (Carlisle) Ford.
He was a graduate of Bloomfield High School and Rutgers University.
Robert was employed as un underwriter with Aetna Life and Casualty Insurance Company for 32 years, retiring in 1984.
He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II, which he enlisted at the age of 17. He was part of the 8th Air Force 493rd Bomb Group.
Robert was a member of Virginville Lyons Club, where he was a former President.
He was a master carpenter, having made many fine pieces of furniture, including a carousel horse and grandfather clocks.
Also surviving are his three children, Evan Ford of Slatington, Mark, husband of Joanne Ford of New Tripoli and Carol (May), wife of Roger Phillpot of England; two step-children, Matthew Breitegam of West Lawn and Amy (Breitegam), wife of Todd Emerich of Bernville.
There are also 10 grandchildren and two great grandchildren surviving.
Robert was predeceased by his sister Doris.
A Memorial Service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale. A visitation will be held a half-hour prior to the service. Burial will be private in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
