Robert Bruce Adams

R. Bruce Adams, 81, of Cumru Township, passed away in his residence on Saturday, September 23, 2023. He was the loving husband of Susan (Hellrung) Danna Adams, with whom he celebrated over 20 years of marriage.

Born in Philadelphia to the late Charles and Gertrude (Glynn) Adams, Bruce graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1960. He was a tremendous athlete, playing football, baseball, basketball, and track. He was named "Athlete of the Year" during his senior season. He graduated from Colgate University in 1964.

Bruce served in the Navy and attended Officer's Training School. He served during Vietnam and traveled through the Panama and Suez Canals and throughout the world. After his honorable discharge in 1968 as Lieutenant Junior Grade, Bruce accepted a sales role with Johnson and Johnson. He later worked for Ortho Diagnostics and retired from Village Office Supply.

Bruce was a member of St. John Baptist de la Salle R.C.C.

He was an avid reader and Fox News enthusiast. As a younger man, he enjoyed serving as a lifeguard in Surf City on Long Beach Island. He held an appreciation for golf and enjoyed mowing his lawn.

Bruce's memory will be treasured by his wife, Susan. He is also survived by his son, Michael B. Adams of Ship Bottom, NJ; his step children: Andrew Danna (Lan Nguyen) of Laureldale; Julie Conklin (James) of Athens, GA; Michelle Riehl (Josh) of Birdsboro; and Becky Roades (Adam) of Centerville, VA; his grandchildren: Kylie, Jack, Mikayla, Marie, David, Rayna, Zoe, Myra, and Callie; several nieces, nephews, and their families; and his former spouse, Susan Shade of Naples, FL.

He was predeceased by his brothers, David and Peter, and his companions Cinder the dog and Annie the cat.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 29, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Baptist de la Salle, 42 Kerrick Rd, Shillington, PA 19607.
