Robert A. Alberts

Robert A. Alberts, 71, of Fleetwood, passed away October 4, 2009 in Memorial Sloan- Kettering Cancer Center, New York City.

He was the husband of Marilyn (Brady) Alberts.

Born in Cleveland, OH, he was the son of the late Leo and Amelia (Arbaczewski) Alberts.

He attended Fenn College, Cleveland, OH.

Robert was employed as a marketing manager for Ensinger Plastics, Washington, PA, retiring in January 2009.

He was a member of St Ignatius Roman Catholic Church, where he was an usher for many years.

Robert served on the Arboretum committee for the Reading Public Museum and as a co-chairman of the Giving Tree Christmas Charity Program for St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church, Havre de Grace, MD., for five years.

He was a U.S. Marines veteran.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Jonathan R. Alberts, Lenhartsville and two daughters, Colleen M., wife of John Haffey, Havre de Grace, MD and Kathleen T., wife of Luke Steigerwald, Boston, MA and his sister, Christine, wife of Ronald Cudnik, Columbus, OH.

Robert is also survived by six grandchildren: J. Brendan Haffey, Brianna Haffey, Connor Haffey, Nathaniel Steigerwald, Nicholas Steigerwald and Samuel Steigerwald.

He was predeceased by his son, Christopher R. Alberts.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11:00 a.m. in St. Ignatius R.C. Church, 2810 St. Albans Dr., Whitfield, PA 19609. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading, PA 19611.
