Robert Gustav Albert of Temple entered eternal rest on Wednesday, May 19th in the presence of his loved ones.

"Bob", as he was affectionately known by all, was born October 6, 1926 in Reading to the late Gustav Helmann Albert and Anna Marie (Meyer) Albert.

He was predeceased by five siblings: Hartwig, Milda, Kathe, Elsa and Gertrude.

He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Rhoda (Kovalik) Albert of 59 1/2 years, his three children: Karen Lynn Goss and husband Danny Lee Goss of Palmyra; Kim Albert Goldsmith of Harrisburg and son Robert Karl Albert of Temple.

Bob was also a grandfather to Alyson Leah Goldsmith of Harrisburg and Bryan Jared Goldsmith of Middletown. He leaves behind several nieces and nephews in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

Bob graduated from Reading High School in 1944 and served in the United States Navy from January, 1945 through August 1946. He subsequently attended Rider College in Trenton, NJ and graduated with a degree in accounting in 1950.

It was there in Trenton, NJ where Bob met his beloved Charlotte and married her on November 25, 1950. He brought his wife home to Reading when he was employed at Carpenter Steel, Sunshine Brewing Company and retired from Gilbert Associates in December 1988.

Bob was a member of Epiphany Lutheran Church, Temple.

He was an avid golfer and loved to brag that the combined ages of his foursome was over 320 years. He was also known as the tomato man in his neighborhood, sharing the many tomatoes from his garden.

A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday at 11:00 am in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale, with the Rev. Lynda Elmer officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to services in the funeral home. Burial will be private in Berks County Memorial Gardens.
