Rita Mary Petrakes

Rita Mary Petrakes, 86, of Spring Twp., died September 28, 2015, in Reading Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

Her husband, James George Petrakes, died November 23, 2014; they enjoyed 63 years of marriage.

Born in Atlantic City, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Petro and Irene (Kaldy) Magdalinos.

She was a graduate of Reading High School in 1946 and Schoeneman Beauty School.

Rita was a self-employed beautician for over 20 years; later she worked for the original Boscov's store in Reading, Lit Bros., and Vanity Fair until her retirement.

She was a member of Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, Reading.

Rita loved to cook and bake, tend to her garden, her cats, word search puzzles, travel, and volunteering and baking for her church.

Her family was most important to her especially her two daughters, Irene Maria, wife of David A. Becker, Wyomissing, and their daughter Nikki; and Christine P., wife of Peter L. Shaeffer, Bernville.

Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. in Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 1001 E. Wyomissing Blvd., Reading, PA 19611 with burial to follow in Charles Evans Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. in the church. Contributions may be made to Sts. Constantine and Helen Church at the above address. Edward J.
