Rita C. Blancato

Rita C. Blancato died April 21, 2014 following a long illness. She passed away in her home at the Heritage of Green Hills. She is survived by her beloved sister, Vivian Barnhard, and two devoted long-time friends, Mary A. Myers and Shirley Landis who also live at the Heritage of Green Hills.

She graduated from St. John's University in New York and received a Master's Degree in Education from New York University. During her lifetime, she was supervisor of infant adoptions for Catholic Charities in the State of Maryland. She also worked with contractors and architects in construction and site development.

Rita enjoyed hiking, camping, sailing, and gardening. She was a member of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, Flotilla 44, for 45 years and delivered yachts from Miami to St. Petersburg, Florida and from New England to the Chesapeake.

She was an avid supporter of Best Friends, an animal rescue organization at 5001 Angel Canyon Road, Kanab, Utah 84741. A donation in Rita's memory would help so many needy animals.

She was laid to rest in the Cemetery of the Ascension, St. Patrick's Cathedral, New York City, in Airmont, New York.
