Rita A. Biagianti, 92, of Reading passed away Wednesday evening September 30, 2015, at ManorCare, Laureldale where she was a patient for three days.

She was the beloved wife of Angelo J. Biagianti who died June 23, 1995.

Born on June 9, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Mary (Nigrelli) and Anthony Mirenna.

She retired from the Western Electric company.

Rita was a member of Holy Rosary R. C. Church where she and Angelo were married on June 9, 1945. They celebrated 50 years of marriage.

In 1976 Rita was one of the beginning members of the Italian Heritage Council of Berks County helping with the festivities of the Columbus Day Bicentennial Celebration. She organized and was Chairperson of the first Little Miss Italy Contest which she did until the last Italian Festival in 2008. She also taught Italian dances to the children and would travel to nursing homes, clubs, picnics and malls with the Italian Heritage Dancers loving every moment of it.

She was also on the Board of Directors of the Italian Heritage Council. Rita was the 1994 inductee of the prestigious Wall of Honor Award which is in the Franco Library at Alvernia University.

Rita was a Lifetime member of Victor Emmanuels Ladies Auxiliary. During most of the those years she served as President, Vice President and later was a Trustee. She was very active in the auxiliary helping in all activities such as spaghetti suppers, sandwich sales, picnics and banquets for the club. She was very proud to be a dedicated member.

She was an avid bowler, winning many trophies in her League at Colonial Hills Bowling.

She loved cooking, sewing and baking all the Italian cookies for family and friends.

In her later years she enjoyed vacationing with her family and friends in Ocean City, Maryland and spending time with her great-grandson, Brayden.

She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, mother-in-law and sister-in-law. She touched the hearts of all who knew her. She was a very happy, caring and loving woman, who always put everyone before herself. Rita will be sadly and greatly missed by her family, friends and everyone who knew her especially her smiling face and love for life. Everyone would say she was a Saint and an angel.

Surviving are her daughter, Ginger, wife of Robert Lis of Cumru Township; granddaughter, Melanie Lis , and great-grandson, Brayden, both of Mohrsville. She is also survived by her brother, John Mirenna of Kenhorst and brother -in-law, Mike Cosentino of Shillington, sisters-in-law, Velia Biagianti of Reading and Lee Biagianti Griffith of Exeter, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Rita is predeceased by her brothers, Joseph Mirenna and Harry Mirenna both of Reading, her sister and "Best Friend", Geraldine Cosentino of Shillington. Also great granddaughter Anna of Mohrsville

The family would like to thank Berks Visting Nurses, especially Donna Edmonds, Advantage Home Care, especially Elaine, Asera Care Hospice of Allentown, for their undivided care, compassion and attention they gave to Rita and ManorCare of Laureldale for all their excellent care. Thank you to all her friends and card playing "Buddies", especially Ordell for their caring and all their visits right to the end. Also a special Thank You to Dr. Kimberly Rauenzahn of Green Hills Family Medicine for all her care and compassion for Rita.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday October 6, 2015 at 10 a.m. in Holy Rosary Church, Reading with burial to follow in Gethsemane Cemetery. Friends may call Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 8:15 to 9:15 a.m. at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading .
