Richard T. Hinnershitz

Richard Thomas "Dick" Hinnershitz, Sr., 86, of Muhlenberg Township, died February 3, 2012 in ManorCare Health Services, Inc., Muhlenberg Township.

He was the husband of Betty Marie (Rothenberger) Hinnershitz, who died March 8, 2005.

Born in Wyomissing, PA on February 26, 1925, he was a son of the late Charles F. and Mamie (Becker) Hinnershitz.

He was an Army Veteran of WWII.

Dick was employed as a cook at the Queen of the Valley Diner, West Lawn; Hitching Post, West Lawn; Schwambach's, Muhlenberg Township and last at Crystal Springs Restaurant, Sinking Spring before retiring in 2001.

He is survived by five children: Richard T. Hinnershitz, Jr., fiancé of Cindy L. Schwambach of Muhlenberg Township; Dana L. Hinnershitz of Reading; Todd A. Hinnershitz of Exeter Township; Kelly Ann Hinnershitz of Reading and Jay A., husband of Kelly Hinnershitz of West Reading.

Other survivors include three adopted children: Joanna Hoke; Joseph and Donna Morganti.

There are also three step-children: Larry M. Heffner, Kerry L. Reider and Patricia A. (Heffner) Sassani.

Dick is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by an adopted son, Timothy; nine sisters and two brothers.

Services will be Wednesday at 2:00 pm in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale. A viewing will be held one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Charles Evans Cemetery, Reading.
