Richard T. Cronan

Richard T. "Dick" Cronan, 77, Shillington, died September 26 at 11:15 p.m. in his residence.

He was the husband of Jeanette Mary (Donatelli)Cronan.

Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Vincent D. and Margaret (Brogley)Cronan.

Cronan had been employed for thirty-two years as an illustrator by AT&T and Lucent Technologies, Muhlenberg Township, retiring in 1987. Cronan was a self-taught artist.

Cronan was a member of the Knights of Columbus #7179, Reading. He was a past Grand Knight, 4th Degree Knight and a Color Corps member. In the 1970's Cronan was spokesperson for Western Electric and involved in their plans for the original picture phone. He helped design the circuitry for Bell telephones. Richard was instrumental in the donation of a portable difubulator to the Cedar Top Fire Company. This was donated by the "Knights of Columbus", which Richard was active in to help to aid in saving heart patients that might be in distress.

Cronan was a 1946 graduate of Central Catholic High School, Reading.

He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.

Cronan was a member of St. John Baptist de la Salle Roman Catholic Church, Shillington.

He is survived by three sons, Michael R., Shillington, Patrick W., Mohnton, Christopher S., Morgantown, and one daughter, Carol Ann (Cronan)Stuebner, Mohnton.

Other survivors include one brother, Charles Cronan, Pennside, and four sisters, Marguerite (Cronan) Reynolds, Exeter Township, Dorothy (Cronan) Matz, Muhlenberg Township, Mary(Cronan) Stuebner, Reading, and Catherine (Cronan) Krick, Pennside.

There are also six grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in St. John Baptist de la Salle RC Church. Friends may pay their respects Friday 6:30-8:30 p.m. and Saturday 8:30 to 9 a.m. at the Kuhn Funeral Home, 739 Penn Ave. West Reading, PA. Entombment will be in Gethsemane Mausoleum, Muhlenberg Township. Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 1019 Mumma Road Womleysburg, PA 17041. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading, is in charge of arrangements.
