Richard W. Swoyer

Richard W. Swoyer, 77, of Shoemakersville, passed away January 17, 2016, in the Reading Hospital . He was the husband of Patricia A. (Howard) Swoyer. They were married July 25, 1959, and celebrated 56 years of marriage. Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Wilmer and Ada (Emerich) Schwoyer. He was employed as a welder for 16 years at Dana Corporation, Reading, and last worked as a mail carrier for Shoemakersville Post Office for 30 years. He was a life member of the Shoemakersville Fire Company. He served with the Pennsylvania National Guard, Hamburg, Pa. He enjoyed going to the casinos and playing Pogo games on the computer. He is survived by his children: Diane, wife of Scott Ringler, and Darren, husband of Sharon (Maurer) Swoyer; grandchildren: Kenneth Becker, Jr., Jason Wright, Kayla and Keira Swoyer, Trisha (Swoyer), wife of Michael Sanner, Timothy Ringler, and Jeffrey Ringler, Husband of Connie-Marie,(Pozza); and a great-grandson, Logan Wright. Other survivors include his sister, Marian, wife of Chester Kauffman; and his brother, Dennis, husband of Diane Schwoyer. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 22, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. in Burkey & Driscoll Funeral Home, Inc. 40 South 4th Street , Hamburg, PA. Burial will follow in St. Luke's Cemetery in Shoemakersville. Relatives and friends may call Friday from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
