Richard E. Shaeffer

Richard E. Shaeffer, 77, of Lancaster, died on August 30, 2007 at 7:20 PM in the Hospice of Lancaster County.

He was the husband of the late Gloria Ann (Mellinger) Shaeffer, who died in 1991.

Born on September 5, 1929 in Reading, he was a son of the late John J. and Evelyn (Emery) Shaeffer.

Richard graduated from Reading High School in 1947. He attended the University of San Francisco, CA, on a football scholarship from Reading High School.

Richard was the owner and operator of Lancaster Yellow Cab Company for 10 years.

He is survived by a daughter, Daphne Treat and her husband Donald of Ozark, Arkansas; a brother, Gerald Shaeffer and his wife Joan of Wernersville; a grandson Aaron Ritz and his wife Angel of Pea Ridge, Arkansas; a great granddaughter, Emma Marie Ritz of Pea Ridge, Arkansas; a special companion Ann Koller of Lancaster and several nieces and nephews.

Richard was predeceased by two brothers, Jack Shaeffer and Lynwood Shaeffer.
