Richard William Reiber

Richard W. Reiber, 83, of Spring Twp., passed away on April 13, 2025, at Berkshire Commons.

He was the husband of Suzanne L. (Scheffey) Reiber, to whom he was married for 51 years.

Born in Reading, he was the son of the late William Henry and Mary Catherine (Baer) Reiber.

Richard was a graduate of Muhlenberg Township High School in 1959 and George Washington University in 1963, earning a degree in Electrical Engineering.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army signal corps.

An electrical engineer, Richard worked for IBM, Hewlett Packard, Rockwell International, Polymer Corp, and Zacharias Machine Works. His research led to several patents in radio frequency technology.

An avid outdoorsman, Richard was an active member of both the Blue Mountain Eagle Climbing Club and the Berks Community Hiking Club, enjoying countless adventures on the trails. A dedicated coin collector, he belonged to the Daniel Boone Coin Club. Known by his friends as "Mr. Fix It," he was always ready to lend a helping hand and was admired for his resourcefulness and generosity.

A history enthusiast, Richard was a proud member of the Berks History Center and the Sons of the American Revolution. Sue and Richard enjoyed traveling together over the years – especially to the American Southwest. Above all, Richard treasured his family. Time spent with his grandchildren was a favorite pastime – always supporting and attending their activities and events.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his two daughters, Rebecca A. (Shane) Boland, Sinking Spring and Amanda S. (Erik) Schwendeman, Mohrsville. Five grandchildren: Tyler, Luke, Henry, Charlotte, and Mae also survive him.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Berkshire Commons and their memory care staff for the compassionate care they provided to Richard.

Friends and family are invited to gather for a celebration of Richard's life on Monday, April 21, 2025 between 12 – 3 p.m. at the 3rd & Spruce Drafthaus, West Reading. Contributions may be made to Blue Mountain Eagle Climbing Club. Condolences may be expressed at kuhnfuneralhomes.com.
