Richard Paul Angstadt

Richard P. "Rick" Angstadt (75), passed away suddenly on April 8, 2024 at his residence. He was the husband of Julia S. (Snyder) Angstadt.

Born December 9, 1948 in Reading, he was the son of the late Paul E. and Thelma R (Knabb) Burkey. He graduated from Reading High School, class of 1966.

Rick worked for CNA Insurance, later Encompass, where he began his career in the mailroom and moved into the role Manager of Assigned Risk and later returned to the mailroom where he retired in 2005.

Rick was member of the Church of St. Benedict, Mohnton.

Rick enjoyed all sports, especially basketball and baseball. He followed the Reading High, Reading Fightins, Albright College and Alvernia College. He was awaiting Opening Day at the Reading Fightins on Tuesday, April 9, 2024. Rick treasured his family and took extreme pride in decorating his home for the Christmas and Halloween seasons. He appreciated the arts and liked attending theater performances. He was a left- handed pitcher for the semi-professional Sunners fast pitch team as well as others over the years within the Reading area. Rick took delight in being punctual and organized and in turn making sure you were too.

Left to treasure his memory is his wife; children Tori Kravitz (wife of Daniel), Joseph Angstadt, Scott Bachman, Andrew Angstadt (husband of Nicole), Eric Bachman (husband of Nicole); and grandchildren, Tyler Miller, Mina Culbert, Gavin Gehr, Tyler Readinger- Angstadt (husband of Danielle), Suzanna Angstadt; and sister Susan Bruno (wife of Guy).

Rick was predeceased by his parents; brothers George Angstadt, John Angstadt, William Angstadt, and Eugene Angstadt.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 15, 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Church of St. Benedict, 2020 Chestnut Hill Road, Mohnton, PA 19540 with burial at Gethsemane Cemetery, 3139 Kutztown Road, Reading, PA 19605. Visitation will be on Sunday, April 14, 2024 from 6:00- 8:00 PM at Kuhn Funeral Home and Crematory, 5153 Kutztown Road, Temple, PA 19560 and at the Church of St. Benedict before the Mass beginning at 10:00 AM.

Memorial donations/ in lieu of flowers may be made to Reading Education Foundation, 800 Washington Street, Reading, PA 19601 or the Dream League through Baseballtown Charities, PO Box 15050, Reading, PA 19605.
