Richard S. Parese, Sr., 77, of Sinking Spring, passed away May 7, 2014 in The Reading Hospital and Medical Center.
Born March 1, 1937 in Reading he was a son of the late John A. Parese and Rose (Schiavo) Gangemi.
Richard was a 1954 graduate of Reading High School.
He was the owner of South End Towing and later Dick's Towing and Recovery. He also worked various other jobs throughout retirement to keep busy.
Richard was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Phillies, Philadelphia Eagles, and NASCAR. He enjoyed spending time with his family, an occasional trip to the Italian market, and of course his weekly poker game with the boys.
He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and was involved with several local fire companies over the years.
Richard is survived by his two sons: Stephen, husband of Tammy Parese, Mooresville, NC; and Jason, husband of Kelly Parese, Sinking Spring. Also surviving are his two brothers: John Parese, FL; and John, husband of Laura Parese, Albrightsville; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his son, Richard S. Parese, Jr.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading. A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery. Online condolences may be recorded at www.kuhnfuneralhome.com.
