Richard Lee Orwig

Richard L. Orwig, 73, passed away on March 8, 2024 in his Muhlenberg Township residence. Born in Levittown PA, he was the son of the late Robert F. and Gloria A. (Payne) Orwig.

Richard was a 1968 graduate of Pennsbury High School. His enthusiasm for knowledge led him to pursue multiple degrees. He received his undergraduate degree at Albright College and received a law degree from Dickinson Law School. In his youth, Richard was a great athlete. In high school he played football, wrestled and ran track. As he moved on to college, Richard was a four-year letterman as a starting receiver on Albright's football team.

Richard practiced law throughout Pennsylvania his entire adult life. Always self employed, he loved the law and all that came with it. Richard's focus in the legal profession was both centered on municipality law and personal injury law.

Later in life running and golf were sources of happiness for Richard. He was always a sports enthusiast who enjoyed watching football, baseball, soccer, and Formula One. A lifelong learner, Richard had a passion for expanding his knowledge in the fields of psychiatry, law, and more. He also had a love for music dating back to his youth with the Beatles.

Richard is survived by his three sons: Daniel Orwig, husband of Kelly, of Madison, NJ, Peter Orwig, husband of Miranda, of Madison, NJ, and Jack Orwig, husband of Alli, of Columbus, OH. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren. In addition, Richard is survived by his sisters, Robin Zoretski and Beth Bowe, both of Levittown, PA.

A prayer service will be held on Friday, March 15, 2024 at 11:00AM at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading. Friends and family will be received from 10-11:00AM. Burial will be private.
