Richard A. Nye

Richard A. "Dick" Nye, 66, of 146 Laurel Court, (Spring Township), Wyomissing, Pa 19610, died January 17th at 11:50 am in the Reading Hospital and Medical Center, where he had been since January 10th.

He was the husband of Susan (Hart) Nye.

Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Albert I. Nye and Ethel (Houser) Evans.

He was a 1955 graduate of Reading High School.

Nye worked as an electrician for 12 years at Carpenter Technology, Reading.

He later owned and operated Nye Electric, Leesport for 10 years until 1983.

Nye last worked as an electrician for 15 years for Dana Corporation, Reading until his retirement in 1998.

He was a member of St. Margaret's Roman Catholic Church, Reading.

Nye was a Navy Veteran.

He was a little league coach for 10 years for the Bern Township Athletic Association.

Nye was a life member of both the Mount Pleasant Fire Company, Penn Township and the Elk's Lodge #2645, Ocean City, Maryland.

He is also survived by a daughter, Sandra K. Nye of Wallingford, Delaware County.

Other survivors include four sons, Richard H. Nye of Bernville, Michael R. Nye of Springfield, Virginia, Robert A. Nye of Muhlenberg Township and Ronald A. Nye of Blandon.

Nye is also survived by a sister, Margaret J. (Nye) Gehring of Wernersville and ten grandchildren.

Funeral Services Thursday 10:30 am in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., Laureldale. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 11:00 am in St. Margaret's Roman Catholic Church, Spring Street & Centre Avenue, Reading, Pa 19601. Viewing Wednesday evening 6:30 - 8:00 pm in the funeral home. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township. Contributions may be made to the church at the above address or to Berks Visiting Nurse Association, c/o Hospice, 1170 Berkshire Blvd., Wyomissing, Pa 19610.
