Richard Granville Leisey, Sr., lovingly know as "Butch", passed away at home in Ephrata on May 23, 2026. He was the beloved husband of Kay E. (Reinoehl) Leisey, with whom he shared 18 years of marriage.
A son of the late George A., Sr. and Dorothy May (Moyer) Leisey, Richard dedicated much of his life to public service and his community. He proudly served with the Reading Police Department for 23 years before going on to serve as Chief of Police in both Bernville and Mohnton. Later in his career, he worked as a deputy coroner for Berks County and with the Berks County Parks Department.
Richard will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Kay; his daughter, Angela Hemmig and her husband, David, of Reading; his son, Richard G. Leisey, Jr. and his wife, Nicole, of Center Valley; stepson, Bryan Kutz and his wife, Coryn, of Manheim; stepdaughters, Jennifer Neissner and her husband, Justin, of Bellefonte, and Holly Dickenson and her husband, Jeremy, of Wernersville; twelve grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and a third great grandchild on the way. He will also be remembered fondly by extended family members, friends, and colleagues whose lives he touched throughout the years.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, June 26, 2026 at 11:00 am at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc, 739 Penn Ave, West Reading, PA 19611. The family will receive friends and relatives from 9:30 a.m. until the start of the service.
