Richard Wayne Lee

Richard (Dick) Wayne Lee, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and much esteemed member of the West Wyomissing community, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 8th, 2024. Born on March 2, 1940, in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Melvin and Katheryn Kerstetter Lee, who preceded him in death.

Richard leaves behind his beloved wife, Caroline Lee, whom he married on April 16, 1966. They would have celebrated 58 years of marriage in April. He also leaves behind his daughters, Kathy Lee of Natick, MA, and Debbie Paschall (Paul) of Canon City, Colorado. He was a proud grandfather to Esther, Eric, and Laura Holt, as well as Caden, Macy, Micah, Logan, and Cooper Paschall. He was predeceased by two grandsons, Jonah and Matthew Paschall. He was also the dad to several boys (exchange students) he called his own Paavo, Knut, Nils, Marc, and Sicco.

Raised alongside his sisters, Norma O'Donnell (wife of Paul O'Donnell) and Nancy Mercer (wife of Lyle Mercer-nephews Jason, Derrick). Richard cherished family above all else. He was a graduate of Bellefonte Area High School and Pennsylvania State University.

Richard dedicated 32 years of his life to a distinguished career with CNA Insurance before retiring in 1997. His dedication, work ethic, and integrity earned him the respect of colleagues and clients alike. Prior to his civilian career, Richard proudly served his country in the United States Army for six years and was honorably discharged. He was known for his love of music and skill playing the piano, accordion and the organ.

Richard's life was marked by his unwavering commitment and love for his family, his country, and his community. He will always be remembered for his practical jokes, his love for auctions, his contagious belly laugh, his New York City trips and all the shows, his dedication to the Grange Fair, and most recently his love for Cape Cod. He loved his wife, kids, grandkids and friends so much. He was not a man afraid to cry.

Those who would like to celebrate Richard's life are invited to his home at 2157 Girard Avenue West Lawn between 4:00 and 9:00 on Monday February 12th. Feel free to bring memories, pictures and refreshments to share. Military honors and pastoral message and eulogy will begin at 6:00 pm.
