Richard L. Wagner, 87, of Exeter Township, passed away November 23, 2012 in The Reading Hospital and Medical Center.

He was the husband of Geraldine F. (Weber) Wagner.

Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Paul F. and Marie E. (Focht) Wagner.

He was a graduate of Reading High School and Temple University.

Richard was a master electrician and co-owned Wagner Bros. Electrical Contractors and Appliances, West Reading for 20 years, retiring in 1968. He taught electrical trades at Berks Career and Technology Center from 1968 to 1988 and from 1992 to 2007 he was self employed as an electrical inspector.

He was the past president of Travelers Protective Association, Reading; a Fireman's Union Representative for Liberty Fire Co., No. 5, Reading and was founder and first cubmaster for Boy Scouts Troop 445 at Sacred Heart.

He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran, serving in the South Pacific, China, Berma and India during WWII.

Richard was a member of Sacred Heart R.C. Church, West Reading.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, David L. Wagner, Chester Springs and three step-sons: Michael R. Schmehl, Exeter, Steven G. Schmehl, Palmyra and Jeffrey W. Schmehl, Exeter. Also surviving are his sisters: Jane Brailer, Reading and Rosemary Koyste, Reading. Seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren also survive him.

Richard was predeceased by his first wife, Anna M. (Homrich) Wagner in 1976. He was also predeceased by eight siblings: Robert, Paul, Donald, Jack, Ruth, George, Louise and Jean.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart R.C. Church, West Reading. Viewings will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 6217 Reading, PA 19610. Online condolences may be recorded at www.kuhnfuneralhome.com.
