Richard L. Braun, 77, of Flying Hills, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2010. Born in Reading, PA, Richard was the youngest son of Leo and Katherine (Gibney) Braun, and is predeceased by his four brothers - Edward, Frederick, Joseph and James.
Richard graduated from Northeast Junior High School and Reading Senior High School, where he excelled in basketball and soccer. He honorably served his country in the United States Army. Richard retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1989 after 30 years of service, lastly serving as the Postmaster of Fleetwood, PA.
In his spare time, Richard enjoyed the game of golf and spending time with his family and friends. Richard is survived by his wife and soulmate of over 60 years, Marian (Reeser) of Reading, his son Jeffrey, husband of Brenda, Lansdale, PA; daughter Diane, wife of James Barone, Chesterfield, MO and a son Barry, husband of Catherine, Cairo, Egypt. Richard is also survived by nine grandchildren who loved him dearly.
Services will be held on July 6, 2010 at St. Benedict's Roman Catholic Church, 2020 Chestnut Hill Road, Brecknock Township. A viewing will be held from 9-11 a.m., immediately followed by a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be at Gethsemane Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., Laureldale.
