Richard L. Adams, 79, died June 28, 2007 at 5:55 a.m. in his St. Charles, IL residence.

He was the husband of Alice M. (McLoud), whom he married October 24, 1953.

Born May 17, 1928, in Reading, he was a son of the late Raymond and Helen (Focht) Adams.

Richard was a graduate of Reading High School in 1946. He also graduated from Bucknell University in 1951 with a BS in engineering.

He worked as a chemical engineer for many years, last working for Amoco Chemicals, Chicago, IL until his retirement in 1992.

Richard served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Richard was a member of the Masonic Lodge Unity #48 F & AM and Fox Valley Shrine, both in St. Charles, IL and the Medinah Shrine in Chicago, IL.

In addition to his wife, Richard is survived by his children, Alan, husband of Cynthia, West Des Moines, IA; Ann (Adams) Ketchum, Austin, MN; and Arthur, Lisle, IL.

Other survivors include a brother, Paul, husband of Linda Adams, Reading; and a sister, Janet, wife of Robert Blumestine, Temple.

There are also five grandsons.

A viewing will be held on Thursday from 10-11 a.m. in the Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale. Burial will be in Laureldale Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township. For online condolences, please visit www.christfuneralhome.com.
