Richard R. Jessup, 88, of Wyomissing, passed away July 18, 2024, at the Lebanon VA Medical Center.

Born in Goshen, New York, he was the son of the late Richard H. and Freida Florence (Moore) Jessup.

His wife, Catharine A. (Phillipson) Jessup, died on December 18, 2018.

Richard graduated from Orange County Community College and Western New Mexico University with a bachelor's degree. He also completed Political Science studies at New York University, University of Pittsburgh, and Seton Hall University, earning Master's Degrees in Political Science and Educational Media. Additionally, he attended Rutgers University.

Richard's career spanned over three decades, serving as a District Coordinator Education Media Specialist for 33 years at Caldwell-West Caldwell Public Schools in Caldwell, NJ, before retiring in 1990. Prior to that, he spent 10 years as an Associate Professor at Seton Hall during the 70's.

Richard served our nation proudly and valiantly in the US Army 82nd Airborne Division.

He actively participated in the activities of the West Lawn United Methodist Church in West Lawn, where he dedicated his time to 20 mission trips, primarily with WLUM Church, to locations such as Florida, Mississippi, and Oklahoma.

Richard dedicated his time to volunteering for various organizations, including Habitat for Humanity for 5 years, Salvation Army for 40 years, and delivering Meals on Wheels to homebound seniors for 20 years.

He is survived by four children: Elizabeth, wife of the late Keith Nemeth, Piscataway, NJ, Rosalind, wife of Patrick Ebert, Womelsdorf, Joanne, wife of the late Lawrence Moretz, Milford, and Aubrey, wife of Chris Stephens, Harrisburg, and three siblings: William Jessup, Carol Lozell, and Jack Jessup. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Stephen Nemeth, Piscataway, NJ, Frederick Ebert, Womelsdorf, Elisha, husband of Megan (Smith) Moretz, Allegany, NY, Jennifer, wife of Elias Pizzirusso, Cherry Hill, NJ, Brittany Stephens and Brian Stephens, both of Harrisburg and five great-grandchildren: Alison Joy Moretz, Lawrence Roy Moretz, IV, Alessia Marie Pizzirusso, Sofia Patricia Pizzirusso, and Luella Marie Williams; and many nieces and nephews.

Richard was predeceased by two siblings, Patricia Maher and Arthur Jessup.

A viewing will be Thursday, July 25, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Kuhn Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 5153 Kutztown Rd, Temple, PA 19560 with burial with Military Honors at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
