Richard Theodore Hoffer, a devoted husband and a loving, caring father, grandfather and great grandfather, 78 of Muhlenberg Township, died June 19, 2008 at 8:30 pm in The Reading Hospital and Medical Center, where he had been a patient since June 11th.
He was the husband of Natalie May (Fish) Hoffer, whom he married January 21, 1950.
Born August 14, 1929 in Reading, he was a son of the late Theodore and Helen M. (Batz) Hoffer.
Richard was a graduate of Reading High School in 1949.
He was employed by Carpenter Technology, Reading as an inspector for 37 years, retiring in 1987. In addition, he was also employed by Essence Floral Studio, Temple, for several years.
Richard was a member of the National Guard.
He was also a member of Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, Reading.
In addition to his wife he is survived by four daughters: Michelle L. (Hoffer), wife of Randy Dutt of Reading; Deborah L. (Hoffer), wife of Thomas Campisano of Wyomissing; Bonnie L. (Hoffer), wife of Steve Kern of Cumru Township and Kim L. (Hoffer), wife of Jim Shultz of Muhlenberg Township.
There are also 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren surviving.
Richard was predeceased by a brother, Ronald Hoffer in 1986 and twin granddaughters.
Services will be Monday at 10:30 am in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale. A viewing will be held one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Laureldale Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township.
