Richard F. Hill

Richard F. Hill, 72, of Temple, passed away February 18, 2014 in St. Joseph Medical Center.

He was the husband of Susan A. (Aucker) Hill, whom he married almost 42 years ago on May 27, 1972. Â

Born January 3, 1942 in Darby, he was a son of the late William P. and Margueritte E. (Rockwell) Hill. Â

He was a 1959 graduate of Msgr. Bonner High School and a 1963 graduate of Villanova University, where he also later earned his Master's degree.Â

Richard was a civil engineer; working for PENDOT, Amtrak and Urban Engineers. He retired from Urban in May 2013 and was inducted into its Hall of Fame in December 2013.Â

He was a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, a former volunteer fireman with Darby #2, and was a member of AREMA. Â

Richard will be fondly remembered for the corny jokes he loved to tell. He enjoyed model trains and adored his family. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. Through the years, Richard often coached his children in sports and was an active participant in their Scouting activities. He and his wife Susan were strong believers in giving back and worked regularly with a Philadelphia homeless shelter, St. Francis Inn, for that last 15 years. He will be dearly missed. Â

In addition to his wife, Richard is survived by his three children: Jennifer, wife of Jeffrey Citara, Exton; Gregory Hill, Temple; and David Hill, Annapolis, MD. Also surviving are his brother, Vincent J. Hill, Norfolk, VA; and his two grandchildren: Chase and Rhiley Citara, Exton. Â

Richard was predeceased by his older brother, William J. Hill. Â

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 11 AM in SS. Philip & James Catholic Church, 107 N. Ship Rd., Exton, PA. A visitation will be held from 10 to 11 AM in the church. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Francis Inn, 2441 Kensington Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19125. Â
