Richard D. "Rick" Hessler, 66, of Spring Township, died May 29, 2015 at Hospice and Community Care, Mt. Joy.

He was the husband of Catherine A. (Dolan) Hessler to whom he married on September 16, 1995.

Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Gerald R. and Bettie A. (Rupp) Hessler.

He was a graduate of Reading High School.

Rick was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during the Vietnam War.

He was employed by RTI, Bern Township, previously he was a bartender at Kaley's Corner.

Rick was a member of St. Ignatius Loyola Roman Catholic Church, Whitfield where he was a greeter, and was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children: Christopher J. Hessler, Mohnton, Alicia M. Deeds, Shavertown and Ricky A. Kirelawich, and wife Sunny, Centre Hall; his sister, Ann L. Hessler, Reading; five grandchildren: Shawn, Vinny, Gabriel, Carson and Luca; his niece, Kellie A., Piccone, Reading and her sons Tyler and Robbie and several great-nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 11 a.m. in St. Ignatius Loyola R.C. Church, 2810 St. Alban's Dr., Sinking Spring, PA 19608. Burial will be private in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to: St. Ignatius Loyola R.C. Church at the above address or Hospice and Community Care Center, 4075 Old Harrisburg Pike, Mt. Joy, PA 17551.
