Richard E. Heizmann, Sr., 98, of Wyomissing, died February 26, 2015 at the Highlands.
He was the husband of Simone Marie (Mothu) Heizmann, whom he married in Marseilles, France in 1945.
Born in Reading, Richard was the son of the late F. Edward and May K. (Kauffman) Heizmann.
He was reared and lived in Highland Park, Michigan from 1916 to 1939.
Richard graduated from the University of Detroit Jesuit High School in 1934, with a degree in English and from the University of Detroit, College of Commerce and Finance in 1939, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and Business Administration.
Returning to Reading in 1939, he was employed by Penn Hardware Co. until he was inducted into U. S. Army in 1943.
He served in the African Middle Eastern Campaign and the Rome-Arno Rhineland Campaign where he was awarded several distinguished medals.
After demobilization in 1945, Richard was reemployed by Penn Hardware Co. until 1955 when he resigned to form his own firm. He was Founder and President of Penncraft Enterprises for 35 years until retirement in 1990.
Richard was a member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Parish.
He held memberships in The Alpha Club of Philadelphia, The Union League of Philadelphia, and Washington Library Club of Reading.
Richard is survived by his children: Richard E., Jr., Washington, DC; Peter J., Mt. Penn; Robert L., Mt. Penn; Michele T. Lauter, Reading; David L., Reading; Stephanie J. Vittoria, Washington, DC; Timothy R., Reading and his sister, Margaret A. Heizmann, MA.
He was predeceased by his son, Thomas M. and his brother, John R.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 am. in Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church,701 Franklin St., West Reading, PA 19611. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 8:30 to 9:30 am in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading, PA 19611.
