Richard H. Green

Richard H. "Dick" Green, 83, of Wyomissing, passed away May 21, 2012, in Reading Hospital and Medical Center where he was a patient for one day.

He was the husband of Beverly A. (Shunk) Strausser Green. They were married for 48 years.

Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Herbert and Ida (Boyer) Green.

He was a general manager for Fromm Electric for 23 years. After retirement, he was employed part-time at Lowe's in the Electric Department for several years.

Dick was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, serving with the first Infantry Division "BIG RED 1". He served two years in Germany during the German Occupation.

He was a member of Oley Bible Chapel.

Dick was a former Commander of the West Reading VFW. He is now a life member of Sinking Spring Post #6150.

He also was a member of the PIAA Umpires Association. He also played church softball, and was also a bowler- having bowled a 300 game years ago.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by seven children: Michael, husband of Deb Strausser, Chandler, AZ, Mark, husband of Steph Green, Reading, John Green, West Reading, Sharon, widow of Robert Kleinert, Blandon, Sandra, wife of Ken Paling, West Lawn, Doreen Strausser, Wyomissing, Richelle, wife of Phillip Rittersbach, Sinking Spring; his sister, Caryl, wife of Ronald Hafer, AL; 21 grandchildren: Brandon, Brittany, Jeremey, Kyle, David, Steven, Cody, Jessica, Samantha, Daniel, Michelle, Matthew, Tracy, Denise, Michael C., Stephanie, Michael A., Shannon, Kevin, Karen and Marcia; 15 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren also survive him.

Dick was predeceased by his daughter, Janis Nelson; his brother, James Green and his sister, Helen Green.

Services officiated by Pastor Fred Bell will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading, PA 19611.
