Richard G. Grab, 81, formerly of West Reading and Reading, died December 1, 2011 in Spruce Manor.

He was the husband of Ann R. (Rehr) Grab.

Born in West Reading, he was a son of the late William Grab and Mary (Schnabel) Kroener.

He was a sales manager for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, West Reading for 34 years, retiring in November, 1993.

Richard was a member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, West Reading.

Richard was a volunteer for the St. Joseph Hospital where he was named man of the year. He was also a former president of the West Reading Board of Recreation and a P.I.A.A. Swim Official for the Berks County Chapter.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by nine children: Michael, Reading, Thomas, Phoenix, AZ, David, Shillington, Richard and Robert, both of West Reading, Kathleen, wife of John Killmeyer, Chesterfield, NH, Deborah, wife of Terrence Cosgrove, Newport, VA, Diane Grab, Kenhorst and Amy Stoddard, Birdsboro; three sisters: Celine Przydzial, Reading, Theresa Giglio, Mt. Laurel, NJ and Ann Weigold, Levittown; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. His companion, Kathleen Spies and his loving pets Meiling and Sushi also survive him.

He was predeceased by one son, Daniel Grab and one daughter, Pamela Grab.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart R.C. Church. Entombment will be in Gethsemane Mausoleum. Friends may call Wednesday from 9 to 10 a.m. in the church. Contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Memorial Fund, 6217 Reading, PA 19610. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading is in charge of arrangements.
