Richard P. Giles

Richard P. Giles, 88, Reading, died June 25 at 11:20 a.m. in Reading Hospital, where he had been a patient since June 10.

His wife, Kathryn L. (Richards) Giles, died April 1, 2004.

Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Willis F. and Jenny (Rollman) Giles.

Giles had been employed for 41 years by Maier's Bakery, retiring as marketing manager in 1980.

He was a member of Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, Reading.

Giles was an Army veteran of World War II.

He was a member of the 1933 state champion Keystone Juniors baseball team.

Giles is survived by a daughter, Kathryn L. (Giles) Wise, Wyomissing, and two sons, Richard P. Jr., Phoenix, and David A., Wyomissing.

Other survivors include a brother, George A., Reading.

There are also eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading. Viewing one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Spring Township. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Berks Visiting Nurse Association, 1170 Berkshire Blvd., Wyomissing, Pa 19610.
