Richard George Harris

Richard "Dick" George Harris, 74, of Reading, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on January 25, 2025 at Hershey Medical Center.

For 52 years of his life, he was a loving and caring husband to his wife, Alison (LeVan) Harris.

Born in Reading, on June 25, 1950, he was the son of George (Patches) Harris and Marie (Hess) Harris.

Dick was an Owner Operator of Harris Trucking for which he was a long-haul driver.

Dick served our nation proudly and valiantly in the United States Army while exemplifying patriotism through his unwavering support to all friends he had the pleasure of getting to know while serving our country in Vietnam for 1 and 1/2 years.

His family has and will continue to appreciate his strong work ethic and his deep love and affection for all of them. Dick especially had a soft spot for his two granddaughters. He deeply loved and cared for them, and they were extremely important to him. Brittany and Arianna affectionately deemed him "The Papinator" and he absolutely loved and embraced the new nickname.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Jennifer, wife of Jamie Kline, two sisters, Jeanette Graham, and Debbie Gilbert, wife of Roy Gilbert. He also has two granddaughters, Brittany Hoffa and Arianna Hoffa, his brother-in-law James Spencer husband of Valerie Levan, and quite a few nieces and nephews.

Dick was predeceased by his youngest daughter, Amanda (Harris) DuBois, 34 years old, who passed away on July 7, 2022, and his brother D. Leroy Harris.

A service with Military Honors will be on Monday, February 3, 2025 at 7:00 p.m. at Edward J Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc, West Reading. Burial will be private. A viewing will be on Monday, February 3, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
