Richard "Dick" Freymoyer, 91, of Perry Township, passed peacefully at the Highlands at Wyomissing, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Rita C. (Fick) Freymoyer, with whom he shared 67 years of marriage with.

Born in Reading, on December 7th, 1931, he was the son of the late Elwood J. and Myrtle (Weand) Freymoyer. Richard was a proud graduate of Reading High School, and the Reading Education System. After graduating, Richard went on to join the U.S. Navy. He proudly served our country during the Korean War, stationed on the USS TARAWA CV-40. During his service, he earned an associate's degree in electrical engineering from the Navy and Montgomery College in Tacoma Park, MD. Richard was honorably discharged as a 2nd Class Electrician's Mate Petty Officer.

After his military service, Richard worked for Reading Aviation for three years. He then worked for Met-Ed in Hamburg and Reading for over 37 years in the Line, Engineering and Load Dispatching Departments. Richard also had his own part time electrical business which he started in 1966 for residential and commercial work, namely for Penn Dutch Bakeries in Fleetwood and Blandon.

Richard was known to be active in his community, being a member of the American Legion since 1955, many local fire companies and religious groups. He was a member of the Shoemakersville JC's, as well as a Charter member of the of the Hamburg Lions Club where he served as secretary, newsletter editor and held all the chairs leading to President of the club. He was a long time member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, as well as a lifelong member of the Holy Name Society, where he served many years as secretary for the St. Mary's Holy Name Society. Richard was also a part of the York and Lancaster Computer Users groups, serving as secretary and newspaper editor. He was known to help install the first real lighting in the Shoemakersville Community Park. His helping hand will always be remembered.

In addition to his wife, Richard's memory will be cherished by his three children: Steven Freymoyer, husband to Kathy, Fleetwood, Pa; Denise Speicher, wife of Rick, Wyomissing, Pa; and Karen Clemmer, wife of Bill, Blandon, Pa.; eight grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

A Mass of Catholic Burial will be held for Richard on Monday, September 11, 2023 at 11 a.m. A Visitation will be held from 10 a.m to the start of service at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 94 Walnut Rd, Hamburg 19526. Kuhn Funeral Home and Crematory Hamburg is honored to serve Richard's family.
