Richard L. Faust, 68, passed away March 22, 2014, in his Wyomissing residence, surrounded by his loving family.
He was the husband of Kathleen M. (Pittman) Faust, whom he married 49 years ago on February 6, 1965.
Born March 16, 1946, in Reading, he was a son of the late Walter and Ida (Wentzel) Faust.
He attended Reading High School.
Richard was a driver for Barta Bus Company for over 33 years, retiring in 2008. Previously he worked for 21 years at Reading Tube., while simultaneously working for United Seafood. After retirement, he worked part-time for Berks Lanes as a bus driver last working in August of 2013.
He was an avid coach and fan of Berks County wrestling. A wrestling coach for his son, Mike, for Rising Sun wrestling in the late 70's through the 80's, Richard went on to serve as an assistant coach for Mike at both Northeast Jr. High School and Muhlenberg High School. He was one of the founders of the Lee Broad Memorial Wrestling Tournament. Always looking to help, Richard worked at the concession stands at Reading and Wyomissing during wrestling matches.
During the 1970's he was a drag racer by the name of "Fireball" at Maple Grove Raceway. He loved the Dallas Cowboys, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends. He will be dearly missed.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his three children: Cheryl L. Faust, Reading; Michael J., husband of Maria T. Faust, Wyomissing; and Lisa M. Palumbo, Wyomissing. Also surviving are his siblings: Walter Faust, Hamburg and Shirley LaBrecque, Temple; and eight grandchildren: Constantina, Michael, Austin, Shawn, Amber, and Alyssa as well as Justina and Brandon whom he and Kathleen raised as his own. Richard was predeceased by his sister, June Austin.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading. Viewings will be held Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 10 to 11 a.m., both in the funeral home.
