Richard C. Heller, age 85, Reading passed away Friday, June 26th, 2015 at Wyomissing Nursing and Rehab .

Born in Reading , he was the son of Ruben Heller and Ida May (Winters) Heller.

He was predeceased by his wife, Joanne E. Heller, January 29, 2000.

Richard served in the United States Navy for 5 years. During that time, he was active during the Korean Conflict.

He worked as a groundskeeper and park custodian for the City of Reading for 18 years.

Richard was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Reading.

He is survived by three sons; Calvin E. and Dennis S., both of Reading and Timothy A., Kutztown, and 3 daughters Yvonne E. Krick, Muhlenberg Twp., Tammy M. Bitting, Shillington and Marie A. Garrett, Shillington.

Other survivors include 18 Grandchildren, 17 Great Grandchildren and one expecting Great Grandchild.

He was predeceased by two sons; Dale G. Eisenhower and Charles "Skip" Bartholomew; 4 sisters and 2 brothers.

The family would like to thank Hospice and Comfort Keepers for all their help in taking care of their father.

Richard was a lifetime member of the Sinking Spring VFW where he served as Commander for 4 years and also the Junior Vice Commander of the 13th District for 4 years. He was also a member of Chapter 131 Vietnam Veterans and the Forget Me Nots, Berks County.

Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading, with burial to follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Reiffton. Friends may call from 1 p.m. to 2p.m. in the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 15120, Chicago, IL 60693.
