Richard W. Burkart

Richard W. Burkart, 68, of Reading, died August 14, 2007 in his Reading residence.

He was the husband of Patricia M. (Steinmetz) Burkart.

Born in Reading, he was a son of Eleanor (Kirkley) Burkart, Muhlenberg Township and the late Paul R. Burkart.

Richard was a 1958 graduate of Reading High School.

He was a salesman for Sears, Shillington and Wyomissing, for 26 years. Richard was a Pennsylvania State Constable for 30 years. He was a school bus driver and custodian for the Reading School District for 17 years; and was a bus driver for Barta for 3 years.

Richard was a member of Berks Bible Church, Reading.

He is survived by two sons, Steven L., Laureldale, and Timothy J., Reading.

Richard is also survived by one brother, Dr. Sandy Burkart, Boca Raton, FL; and one sister, Sandra Burkart, Muhlenberg Township.

There are also two grandchildren, Amanda C. Burkart and Adam J. Burkart.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. in Berks Bible Church, 29 E. Lancaster Ave., Shillington. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Covenant Home Health Hospice, 2615 Perkiomen Ave., Reading, PA 19606; or American Cancer Society, 498 Bellevue Ave., Reading, PA 19605. Edward J.
