Richard A. Black, Sr., 96, of Wyomissing, died February 9, 2015, in Mifflin Center.
His wife, Marie M. (Shields) Black, died in 1980.
Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Richard O. and Susan F. (McGough) Black.
He was a graduate of St. Joseph Prep in 1936.
Richard was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during WWII.
He worked for ARCO until retirement and later worked for Blank, Rome LLC.
During his retirement he loved playing golf and walking the course. He was lucky to have had five hole in ones. He especially loved all the time he spent with his grandchildren.
Richard was a member of St. Ignatius Loyola Roman Catholic Church, Whitfield.
He is survived by two children, Richard A., husband of Claudia Black, St. Augustine, FL and Susan F., wife of John J. Vozzo, Wyomissing; six grandchildren, Richard W., husband of Melina Black, Christa Marie, wife of Matt Lytkowski, Alec Black, Christopher, husband of Katie Vozzo, Adam and Jonathan Vozzo and one great-granddaughter, Emma Black.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at noon in St. Ignatius Loyloa R.C. Church, 2810 St. Albans Dr., Sinking Spring, PA 19608. Burial will be private. Friends may call Friday from 11 a.m. to noon in the church. Contributions may be made to St. Ignatius Loyola Parish Library at the above address. Edward J.
