Richard M. Atkinson

Richard M. Atkinson, 83, died Oct. 14 at 1 p.m. in his residence on Delaware Avenue, Wyomissing.

He was the husband of Georgia S. (Scull) Atkinson.

Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Harold C. and Marguerite S. (Smith) Atkinson.

Atkinson was employed for 27 years by Carpenter Technology Corp., retiring in 1981 as an assistant manager in metallurgy.

He was a graduate of Pennsylvania State University with bachelor and master degrees in metallurgy.

Atkinson was a member of Atonement Lutheran Church, Wyomissing.

He was an Army Air Forces veteran of World War II.

Atkinson is also survived by two sons, Gary C., Denver, Colo., and Keith W., Norfolk, Va.; and a daughter, Marsha L. (Atkinson) Szymanski, Howell, Mich.

Other survivors include two sisters, Margaret (Atkinson) Marquette, Hamburg, and Joan (Atkinson) Bewman, Hanover, York County.

There are also three grandchildren.

Services will be Oct. 25 at noon in Atonement Lutheran Church. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading, is in charge of arrangements.
