Regina Ziegenfuss

Regina (Caruso) Ziegenfuss, 90, passed away peacefully in her sleep in her Laureldale residence on November 7, 2010.

She was the wife of E. Richard Ziegenfuss whom she married December 31, 1942.

Born March 21, 1920 in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Rosario and Anna (Distasio) Caruso.

Regina was a 1937 graduate of Reading High School and a 1941 graduate of Reading Hospital School of Nursing.

She was employed as operating room supervisor with Reading Hospital and Medical Center for 10 years, retiring in 1950.

Regina was a member of Holy Guardian Angels Roman Catholic Church, Muhlenberg Township.

She was a lifetime member of Association for Reading Hospital School of Nursing and a member of Reading JayCee Wives.

Also surviving is a daughter, Michele L., wife of Christopher P. Kile of Laureldale.

Other survivors include three grandchildren, Shanna N., Sasha M. and Joseph R. and four great grandchildren: Stefahn, Shyanna, Shakyla and Stephen Jr.

In addition, she is survived by a brother-in-law, Ralph, husband of Harriet Ziegenfuss and their daughter Melanie; a niece, Georgine Busch; two nephews, Charles Manzella and Frank, husband of Maureen Manzella and a sister-in-law, Sally Caruso of Reading.

Regina was predeceased by a son, Joseph M. Ziegenfuss who died November 18, 2005; a brother, Joseph F. Caruso and a sister, Rosemarie, wife of the late Frank Manzella.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10:30 a.m. in Holy Guardian Angels R.C. Church, 3121 Kutztown Road, Reading, PA 19605. Viewings will be held Thursday evening from 6:30-8:00 and Friday morning from 9:30-10:00 in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township.
