Raymond A. Ovechka

Raymond A. Ovechka, 88 of Shoemakersville died in his residence on June 15th, 2014. He was the widower of Catherine M. (Motil) Ovechka who died April 28th, 1997. He was born in Sheppton, PA. and was the son of the late Anthony and Florence (Zeller) Ovechka. Raymond worked for the former Prestolite Battery Division of Allied Corporation, Temple PA. as a Millwright for 24 years retiring in January 17th, 1986. He was a combat infantry Army Veteran of WWII serving with Company H, 290th Infantry, 75th Infantry Division. Raymond served in 3 campaigns, Central Europe, Ardennes and Rhineland. He received the following decorations, European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. He was a former member of the American Legion of Hamburg. Raymond is survived by his son, Gary R. husband of Karenlee Ovechka, Hamburg, a grandson Troy Ovechka, Tilden Township and his dear companion, Barbara Schappell of Shoemakersville. Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Burial will take place in Laureldale Cemetery.
