Raymond Lee Koons, Jr., 88, died April 2, 2009 at 6:40 am in the Mifflin Center, Cumru Township, where he had been a resident since December 26th.

He was the widower of Mary Jane (Benner) Koons, who died February 27, 2006.

Born in Philadelphia, PA on October 6, 1920, he was a son of the late Raymond L. Sr., and Maude F. (Fenimore) Koons.

He was a 1938 graduate of Simon Gratz and a graduate of International Correspondence Course, Philadelphia.

Raymond was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, Laureldale.

He was a Navy Veteran of WWII.

Raymond was employed 28 years with Daco Corporation, Wharton, New Jersey, last working as a plant engineer in 1988.

He was later employed 14 years with NAPA Auto Parts, Madison, New Jersey, retiring in 2003.

Raymond was a 32nd degree mason with the Lodge Council Chapter, where he served on the consistory.

He is survived by a daughter in law, Nancy Koons of Sparta, New Jersey and two grandchildren: Samantha Koons and Eric Koons.

Other survivors include a nephew, Raymond B., husband of Elizabeth M. Mergner of Reading.

There are also 3 great nieces and nephews and 6 great great nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a son, Raymond Van Koons, who died July 23, 1999.

Services will be Friday at 1:00 pm in Restland Memorial Park, East Hanover, New Jersey, with Rev. Dr. Robb W. Shoaf officiating.
